Hadley's Birth Story......... 15 months late ;-)

15 months ago today was my due date for our little baby girl! My heart was set that she was going to come that day! I was prepared! The house was clean, laundry was done, and I took the day off of school teaching 6th grade because their was a field trip to the ICubs game and I did not want to go into labor at the ICubs baseball game.
 So I packed..... and packed....
and repacked again for the hospital..... All of my bags were ready!!! :-) I have a bit of a packing disorder. Love all the 31?
I remember being home this day on her due date and decided to relax, because I just assumed she was coming any minute!!! I had a Dr. appt on my due date 5/21/12 and I was 3cm dilated and 50% efface and I asked them to strip my membrains and they did. (That was a little painful!)
So I get home and thought for sure I would go into labor that night! Nope, wrong! So the next day I stay home again and decided to shampoo the carpets in the house. I have no idea why, but that's how it goes. So I am shampooing and the neighbor had just come over to re-gravel the front parking area of the house and I begin to get a few little cramps here and there. So I call Nolan he says to call the nurse and call him back. I start timing my contractions and realized they were pretty consistent. So Nolan comes home and we head to the hospital. I get checked in around 5/5:30PM. They monitor my contractions for a couple hours and said I was having some pretty intense ones they called the Dr. in.
They decided to admit me! :-) I was ready for her to be in my arms! I don't think the Dr. wanted to stick around for memorial weekend! :-) So they decided to break my water.
Getting all set up in the room!

Once they broke my water I knew my body was ready to go. I had intense pain fast. There was no turning back. I immediately asked for an epidural. The anestesiologist came to my room as soon as he could and once I got the epidural I was able to relax and enjoy my last few hours with my husband. The nurses would periodically check on me, but told me they didn't think I would have the baby that night since I was a first time mom it was going to take a long time. So I just assumed this would last all night. I remember talking to Nolan, watching a little bit of T.V. and then 9PM rolled around. The nurse says that the dr. wanted me checked one more time before she left for the night. So she checked me and said I was already at a 9.5 or 10 and she was going to go get the Dr. and I was going to have to start pushing soon. So they came in and got everything ready. I started pushing at 10PM and Hadley was born 35 minutes later! The most beautiful thing I had ever seen! She was beautiful!!! I remember an AMAZING euphoric feeling of having her placed on my chest for the first time and repeatedly kissing her and telling her how much I loved her and that she was beautiful!!!

 She was here!
 She was beautiful!
A miracle with 10 fingers and 10 toes!
She was here! The girl that grew inside me, that I felt kick inside me, was really here! I could see her, touch her, and kiss her!
A beautiful HEALTHY Baby girl! I wouldn't trade any of it for the world!

It felt so good to love on her! Our little miracle and piece of heaven!!! :-)

Make "something" Monday!

Chevron pillows to go with the chairs! :-)

Very simple, but can't go wrong with pillows! I got my sewing machine out for the first time in a long time and sewed the four corners around and then stitched up the side I stuffed the pillow in.

Happy Monday friends! :-)

Tackle "Something" Tuesday!

Tuesday's are mommy's day to work on anything I want to get done! Hadley goes to daycare one day a week in the summer, which I love and Hadley loves going and playing with the kids!

I had to go to menards to return something and I needed to spend some store credit so I got to the paint and decide! I am going to paint the bathroom!

So I went bold! The color is "Burning Bush" with Delicate White for the stripes!

It is a work in progress but hope to accomplish more tomorrow!

I'm tired of painting for the night!

Check it out!

Before!

I am really lucky to have such wonderful people in my life and called up a good friend and she came over to help, not really knowing what I had in store for her today! :-)

We painted red!

Then I cut out the bottom of a box to make a grid with chalk on this wall of the bathroom.

I used one of the top of the box to cut out the perfect shape to trace straight lines inside the box and alternated every other row of boxes.

Then we were going to put tape on but realized that the paint would seep through the tape so we decided to free hand the white lines! YIKES!!!

Here is the first coat for tonight!

I will wipe away all the chalk lines and touch up the lines, but more to come at a later date!!

Happy Tackle me Tuesday! :-)

Hope everyone is gearing up for the 4th of JULY!!!

Make something Monday!

Welcome Summer and July 1st!

Today is the first day of July and a Monday so it's make something Monday! :-)

Every get tired of your old chairs? Do you sometimes feel like they need a face life?

Well you too can give those old chairs a kick-to-the-curb! Haha or so to speak!

You could revamp your old ones, but I picked these up in a little thrift shop for $5 bucks each! Yay for a good deal and people who are willing to bargain with you! :-) I talked her down $3 bucks!

Next step for me is to go to my MIL's because she is the best and I love her so! :-) On my way I picked up fabric from Hancock's today that was 40% off!!! I also had my educator's discount card which means another 15%!

Whoop!! Whoop!!! :-)

Then I unscrewed the cushions from the bottom of the chair. And just lifted them out!

I used a flathead and pliers to take out the staples on the old cushions and take the old fabric off. Which then left you with the old batting.

I pulled it off and had to use pliers in some parts because it had been stapled to the wood as well.

I bought these cushions for $5 bucks each! So just use the wood from the seat and use sharpie to trace around the cushion and cut it out with a knife!

Now time to paint the chairs! I wanted mine to be white!

Which my MIL basically did because my little munchkin was trying to eat the paint and go down concrete steps, so I kept her occupied while she painted and sanded the crevices of the chair.

Then, we cut out the fabric we wanted large enough so that we had enough room to staple under the bottom of the board.

Using some foam spray adhesive my MIL sprayed it to the foam and then we jointly had to place the fabric down due to the wind. We stapled the fabric all around the bottom of the cushion and screwed it back into the bottom of the chair!

So BA... BOOM!!!

And one with the muchkin that we had to work around today! :-) Love her little self! :-)

Look at that look! She played hard today & had a blast but this girl never stops moving! :-)

Now, the final picture of the chairs in their new home!!

And the flower arrangement my husband put together last night! He is so creative! :-)

So there you have it revamp of chairs total costs....

Chairs..........................$10
Cushions.....................$10 (you wouldn't need to buy cushions, but I wanted something more comfy!)
Fabric..........................$12

And Ta! Da!!! New kitchen chairs! :-)

Happy Monday!

In Stride...

It's April.

What? How did that happen?

Just as my precious baby girl is just in the beginning of learning so many new things and trying to take her first steps. Taking life in stride is hard to do.

I have learned so many new things being a mama. Like it's the little things that Hadley does that I fall more in love with her every move daily!

This is the face that I get to see each morning! A sweet little girl to say good morning baby girl! Over and over in her ear so she knows just how much her momma loves her!

The sweetest red haired full of life little muchkin you'll ever meet!

Hadley doesn't want to miss a thing. She doesn't stop, just briefly to see if your watching her if she is getting into something she isn't supposed to be.

She loves exploring and trying new things!

Hadley Benge you really keep us on our toes, and we wouldn't want it any other way!

Taking life one "STRIDE" at a Time!! :-)

Sledding!

Daddy wanted to take his little girl sledding before all of the snow melted!

Mission Accomplished! I think she enjoyed it too! She just didn't seem to know what to think of the snow!

Daddy's Girl!

This weekend Hadley and Daddy got good quality time together while mommy was gone all weekend in class!

It's really hard for me to be away from this sweet girl (who is wearing big girl jambes from Great Aunt Cindy! )

But when I see this my heart melts and I know she's with the best daddy who loves his little girl so much!

Aren't they so cute!!

Hadley really loves Kirby too!

My daddy put me in this comfy outfit today!

Kirby is the Hadley's clean up crew.

They work together as a team.

Don't worry he's not bitting her! He's licking her hands because she wanted to put them in the bowl of cereal tonight!

And when you let Hadley put her hands in the bowl...

She will want to examine it....
and then....

bite it.....

then she will want to...
flip it over and hit it!

like so...
